Free WCAG 2.2 accessibility checker.
This free accessibility checker tests a web page against the WCAG 2.2 AA criteria that can be checked automatically: text contrast, image alt text, form labels, button names, page language, link text and heading structure. It measures contrast from the page’s real CSS and shows you the contrast score and the top accessibility issues in about a minute.

What it checks
What the accessibility checker tests
1.4.3Text contrast (AA)
Every text colour is resolved against its background from the page’s CSS and checked for 4.5:1 (3:1 for large text). Pairs that cannot be resolved exactly are excluded, never guessed.
1.1.1Alt text on images
Images with no alt attribute, so screen-reader users hear a filename or nothing at all.
1.3.1 · 3.3.2Form labels
Inputs with no label, aria-label or aria-labelledby. Placeholder text alone does not count.
4.1.2Button names
Buttons that contain only an icon or SVG, which assistive technology announces as just “button”.
3.1.1Page language
A missing lang attribute on the html element, which makes screen readers guess the pronunciation.
2.4.4 · 1.3.1Link text & headings
Links that only say “read more” or “click here”, and heading levels that skip, breaking navigation by heading.
Reading your results
How to read the report.
- Contrast score
- The share of the measured text, by characters, that passes WCAG AA, out of 100. If too little of the text could be measured exactly, no score is shown rather than a misleading one.
- a11y findings
- Findings tagged a11y are accessibility issues. High means people using assistive technology are likely blocked; Medium means they are slowed down.
- Overall score
- The 0–100 score also includes usability, speed and SEO, so a page can pass contrast and still score low overall.
- What a pass means
- No automated tool can confirm full WCAG conformance. A clean result here means the automatically checkable basics are in place; keyboard, focus and screen-reader testing still need a person.

Accessibility checker FAQ.
Does this check WCAG 2.2 AA compliance?
It checks the WCAG 2.2 AA criteria that can be tested automatically from the page’s code: contrast (1.4.3), alt text (1.1.1), labels and names (1.3.1, 3.3.2, 4.1.2), page language (3.1.1), link purpose (2.4.4) and heading structure. Full conformance also needs manual testing, which no automated checker can replace.
How is colour contrast measured?
From the page’s actual CSS: each text element’s colour is resolved against the background behind it, including CSS variables and transparency, and the WCAG contrast ratio is calculated. Pairs that cannot be resolved exactly are left out, and the share measured is taken into account before a score is given.
Does it test keyboard navigation or focus order?
No. The free scan reads the page’s code and styles; it does not drive a keyboard through the page. Test tab order and visible focus by hand, or with a screen reader.
Is an accessibility overlay a fix for these issues?
No. Overlays do not add missing labels or alt text to the underlying code reliably. Fixing the markup and colours themselves is what makes a page accessible.
Is the accessibility checker free?
Yes, with no account. You get the contrast score, the overall score and the top issues. A limit of a few scans per hour per connection applies.
Which page does it check?
The single URL you enter. Check your homepage first, then the pages with forms, such as contact or checkout.
