Industry benchmarks

Website benchmarks by industry 2026

We publish a benchmark once at least 20 different websites have had a full Clikiti scan, so no single site can be picked out of the numbers. We are still collecting scans. In the meantime, you can scan your own website for free.

Methodology

Last updated
Minimum sample
20 websites per published statistic

Each website counts once: we use the most recent full Clikiti scan of its homepage from the last 12 months. A full scan loads the page in a real browser, runs Google Lighthouse on mobile and desktop (including axe-core accessibility rules), applies automated WCAG 2.2 level A and AA checks, measures page weight and requests, and reviews the page against Nielsen’s usability heuristics.

The overall score (0 to 100) weights usability 30%, speed 25%, accessibility 25%, SEO 10% and trust and security 10%. “Middle half” is the range from the 25th to the 75th percentile. Failure rates count sites where the check found at least one problem, out of the sites where Lighthouse completed.

Industry comes from the classification made when a redesign is built, or else from keywords in the business name, description and page title. Pages that returned an error and sites whose owners opted out are excluded. Automated checks find many, not all, accessibility barriers. We only publish statistics, never the names or addresses of the websites scanned.

Aggregate statistics only. No individual website is named.
